Adopt-a-Class – Experimenting With Balloons

Our Adopt-A-Class at Oyler is studying physical science, including concepts like energy, heat, power, and motion, so today we made simple balloon ‘rockets’ to learn more about pressure, force, and friction.  We used several different sizes of balloons to see which ones went the fastest and the furthest when attached to a straw on a ribbon, and tested different variables such as taping the balloon to the bottom or the top of the straw and attaching the balloon at the front, middle, or end of the balloon.  We had a great time testing out our different theories and came up with different results each time.  In the end, we found that a simple 12” balloon usually travelled the furthest, while the long wavy balloons were the fastest. #COPFCU4Good
