I hope this message finds you and your family safe and healthy.
I want to assure you that the credit union is strong, safe and sound despite the COVID-19 pandemic that we are all living through. For financial institutions, federal credit union and bank regulators consider a financial institution to be healthy or “well capitalized” if the institution has a capital to assets ratio of at least 7%. As of month-end April 2020, COPFCU’s capital to assets ratio was 12.16% with a total of $15.7 million set aside to help the credit union weather economic downturns and difficult times. Rest assured that your accounts and loans with us are safe.
Although it was necessary to close our Blue Ash location and our lobbies to protect you and our staff from COVID-19, all of our other essential banking services have remained operational. Our dedicated staff has continued to assist members over the phone and at our Queensgate and Northwest drive-thru lanes. In addition, we are now scheduling in-person appointments to open new personal or business accounts, set up trusts, add power of attorney (POA) designations, and open IRAs/HSAs, etc.
We are currently making plans to reopen our branches and we are working hard to ensure that our branches and lobbies will be safe spaces for you to transact business. We are installing clear barriers at the teller stations and inside our loan offices, placing touchless hand sanitizing stations at our entrances and inside our lobbies and installing social distancing floor markers to ensure that we can all stay safe. Be on the lookout for further communications as these plans are finalized.
The last two months have been unprecedented in our lifetimes. We have all experienced major changes in how we work and conduct our daily lives. I am very proud of our staff who have met the challenge and continue to provide the personal service you expect and deserve. I also want to thank you for your cooperation, understanding and continued loyalty to us as we have navigated this situation. We are – and will remain – here for you.
