Email Phishing Scam: “Your Netflix Account Suspension”

in Tips, Tricks and Member Safety. Share this article: share on Facebook share on Twitter

Today we became aware of a fraudulent email phishing scam targeting Netflix users. The subject line of the email is “Your suspension notification.” The fraudulent email states that there is a billing issue with your account, and that your Netflix account will be suspended in 48 hours if your billing information isn’t updated. The email links to a fake Netflix landing page where you are directed to log in and update your billing information. The fake site then harvests your credit card, debit card or bank account information.

Tips to keep you safe.
• Always review the sender’s email address.
• Don’t click the website link in an email. Instead, type the company’s website address in your browser to make sure that you go to the legitimate site.
• If you do click a link to go to a company’s website, verify that the website address you’ve been sent to is the legitimate site.

We hope this will help keep you and your family’s information safe. For more information on Phishing, visit the Federal Trade Commission’s Phishing Site.
