ELECTION PROCEDURES

Any member in good standing who wants to run for an elected position may do so. In order to be nominated for a vacancy, a member who is not currently serving on the Board of Directors must circulate a petition to be signed by at least 1% of the membership in good standing. The petition must be filed with the Secretary of the Board of Directors along with a brief statement of qualifications and biographical data, and a signed letter of intent stating that the nominee by petition is agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected to office. These items must be received by the Secretary of the Board of Directors by 5:00 p.m. on February 3, 2014. All nominees will be posted in each COPFCU Branch on February 10, 2014.

In the event that the number of nominees equals the number of positions to be filled, the election will not be conducted by ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor.

In the event that there are more nominees than positions to be filled, on March 13 - 14, 2014, a ballot box and ballots will be available at each Credit Union office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. After the voting period ends, the ballot boxes will be opened and the votes tallied. The tallies will be placed back in the ballot boxes and the boxes will be resealed. The ballot boxes will be delivered to the annual meeting where ballots will be distributed to those in attendance who have not voted. The votes will be placed in the ballot boxes. When the balloting has been closed, the ballot boxes will be opened, and the final votes will be added to the previous count. The chair will announce the result of the vote.
